• Secure: Yes (in production) — only sent over HTTPS
• Expiry: 7 days from login

5. Why Essential Cookies Don't Require Consent

Under GDPR and ePrivacy Directive, "strictly necessary" cookies that are essential for providing a service explicitly requested by the user do not require consent. Our auth cookie falls into this category because:

• It is required for authentication (a core service you request)
• The Platform cannot function without it
